Lottie is a Womens Wellness Champion! She is passionate about educating, empowering and supporting ladies in understanding the factors that affect their health and wellbeing.

She specialises in supporting women through all major life phases including pregnancy, postnatal, the peri menopausal period and beyond.

As a coach and soft tissue therapist offering Strong Mama® and Holistic Core Restore® programmes, she is able to guide you through appropriate movement, nutrition and wellbeing strategies appropriate to your needs.

Combining specialist skills in scar therapy with the gold standard Holistic Core Restore® Recovery programmes (for those preparing for/ having undergone C-Section, POP, Hysterectomy surgery or those living with prolapse) she is able to give the extra support, compassion and guidance that these ladies need.

💻 If you've a TV then BBC2/CBBC/C-Beebies will be broadcasting educational material from next week, BBC Bitesize is great if your children have access to a computer, and Twinkl is a website that is providing free educational resources that you can print off. 

🚶‍♀️Don't forget to include daily movement too- being outdoors is powerful in enabling children to blow off steam and you to clear your mind. 

⭐This half term i'm offering 4 Holistic Core Restore® Release sessions. Each session will promote relaxation with a combination of gentle mobilisations, breathwork, soothing self massage and a guided meditation designed to move you away from your stress response. 

Ideal for a post school/work day treat that will help you to unwind, previous clients have commented how well they slept following the sessions. 

I'm pre-recording each session which will be uploaded on to membership site fortnightly from Monday 11th providing the ultimate flexibility for you to access at a time to suit. You will be able to access each session as frequently as you wish for the fortnight that it is 'live'.

🦓There is a lot we can learn from Zebras and th 🦓There is a lot we can learn from Zebras and their response to stress...

Firstly similar to humans, when faced with a potential threat (e.g. a lion) their fight or flight reaction kicks in. Their bodies fill with adrenaline and they react to the acute stress they are facing. When that acute stress has gone their stress response shuts down and they continue as normal. 

As humans, that fight or flight response is useful in the face of acute stress - immediate physical danger, however it's less useful in dealing with the daily 'chronic' stressors that we face. Our brains are unable to distinguish between perceived and actual threat, unlike Zebras we struggle to shut off our stress reaction. 

Chronic stress has been linked to insomnia, depression, diabetes, higher blood pressure, IBS and increased rates of morbidity and mortality. 

However the good news is there are a variety of methods that can help to switch off our stress response and regulate our nervous system, we just need to be more aware of them and proactive in using them...

⭐️ Breathing - nasal breathing, extending the exhale...
⭐️ Exercises to work on vagal tone
⭐️ Mindfulness - working on being in the present moment rather than looking to the past or future
⭐️ Being ok with being feeling uncomfortable - learning to sit with uncomfortable feelings and moderating your reaction to them
⭐️ Gratitude - focussing on positives 
⭐️ Movement 
⭐️ Recognising stress as something that can be a positive, something we can live with, use when needed, learn from and move on from

Warming curried parsnip soup for lunch today with Warming curried parsnip soup for lunch today with a sprinkling of garam massala 😋

Parsnips are a good source of soluble and non soluble fibre, rich in anti oxidants (in particular vit C), a good source of vit K and folate too.

They are also in season, along side lots of other root veg and therefore are a good option when sourcing locally grown veg to include in your diet.

Recipe as follows..

1 onion
2 cloves of garlic
2 tsp curry powder
500g Parnsips - diced
1 veg stock cube

Sautee the onion until soft, add garlic and curry powder and cook down for a few minutes. Add in parsnips, then a veg stock cube. Top with water until parsnips are just covered. Bring to boil and then simmer for 20 minutes. Blend. Add more water to achieve desired consistency. Season and serve.

D- Dopamine
O - Oxytocin
S - Serotonin
E - Endorphins

Dopamine can be stimulated through meditation, creativity, food rich in L-Tyrosine (Avocado, almonds, chicken...), regular exercise

Oxytocin can be stimulated via physical touch, massage/self massage, listening to music, cold showers, exercise and meditation

Serotonin levels can be increased via exposure to sunlight, exercise, massage/self massage and cold showers

Endorphins can be stimulated through laughter, creativity, dark chocolate, spicy foods, exercise, massage/self massage and meditation.
